Spiderwort (Tradescanthia sp.)

Picture
Each flower last just one day ... you can watch a blue petal liquify in your hand on a sunny day. One plant can have more than 20 flowers over the season; one or couple will open every day. The flower has three petals and six stamens. The plant can grow knee-high.

You will definitely notice these bright usually blue flowers when they bloom. As all blue blooming plants, local color variation from pink through purple to blue can be observed.

Spiderworts are in the same taxonomic class as lillies and irises.
